For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go, to whom to speak, and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. The safety that I bring is given me. This is your language. The sounds a baby makes and what he hears are highly unreliable, meaning different things to him at different times.

Neither the sounds he hears nor sights he sees are stable yet. But what he hears and does not understand will be his native tongue, through which he will communicate with those around him, and they with him. And the strange, shifting ones he sees about him will become to him his comforters, and he will recognize his home and see them there with him. Let us accept His Fatherhood, and all is given us. Deny we were created in His Love, and we deny our Self, to be unsure of who we are, of who our Father is, and for what purpose we have come.

And yet we need but to acknowledge Him Who gave His Word to us in our creation, to remember Him and so recall our Self. And it is this that I would speak to all my brothers, who are given me to cherish as my own, as I am loved and blessed and saved by You. Even revelation is not enough because it is communication from God. It is not enough until it is shared. God does not need revelation returned to Him, which would clearly be impossible, but He does want revelation brought to others.

This cannot be done with the actual revelation because its content cannot be expressed, and it is intensely personal to the mind which receives it. It can, however, still be returned by that mind through its attitudes to other minds which the knowledge from the revelation brings. At some level you still KNOW! Helen and Bill discovered this characteristic about two years into scribing the Course — that a large part of the material was given in blank verse iambic pentameter like that used in the writings of Shakespeare. In parts of the Course, the writing goes in and out of blank verse; then the passages blossom into complete poetic iambic pentameter, which made the material more beautiful and inspirational.

Hundreds of pages are in iambic pentameter, Shakespearean blank verse.

Abraham Lincoln

When we discovered that, it offered an additional dimension to the beauty of the concepts. It was almost as if we were being given words and music at the same time. Second Edition. I catch a sense of the power of a great orator addressing the Sonship! And that is a different sense than one gets with a great writer who is writing to an audience.

Alden Hughes:. Most of those who have been around the Course know that large sections of it are written in iambic pentameter. Specifically, after lesson 98 and after Chapter 26 in the text. Other paragraphs are written in that way before that, especially the ends of sections or lessons. Iambic pentameter is a rhythm of 5 double beats with the accent slightly more on the second. Here is a sample of Dr. All it says Is what was never true is not true now, And never will be. The impossible Has not occurred, and can have no effects. And that is all. Can this be hard to learn By anyone who wants it to be true?

Only unwillingness to learn it could Make such an easy lesson difficult. How hard is it to see that what is false Cannot be true, and what is true cannot Be false? You can no longer say that you Perceive no differences in false and true.. Another example of Dr. So great the distance is That it encompasses, it sets you down Just short of Heaven, with the goal in sight And obstacles behind. How far are you progressing now from earth! How close are we approaching to our goal! How short the journey still to be pursued!

Smith also formatted The Song of Prayer into prose and poetic iambic pentameter. Here is a sample of his work within that document:. For in their sight Their brothers share their healing and their love. They but speak for him And never for themselves. They have no gifts But those they have from God, and these they share Because they know that this is what he wills. They are not special—they are holy. They Have chosen holiness, and given up All separate dreams of special attributes Through which they can bestow unequal gifts On those less fortunate.

Their healing has Restored their wholeness so they can forgive, And join the song of prayer in which the healed Sing of their union and their thanks to God. Following are excerpts as examples of Workbook Lessons that have been formatted by Lee Flynn of the Course in Miracles Society another person who has been instrumental in this work from the Urtext of A Course in Miracles :. • And You have given me the means to prove its unreality to me. The key is in my hand, and I have reached the door beyond which lies the end of dreams. I stand before the gate of Heaven, wondering if I should enter in and be at home. Let me not wait again today. Let me forgive all things, and let creation be as You would have it be, and as it is.

Let me remember that I am Your Son, and opening the door at last, forget illusions in the blazing Light of Truth, as memory of You returns to me. I come to you to take you home with me. And as we go, the world goes with us on the way to God. To offer them is to remember Him, And through His memory to save the world. The Son of God incorporates all things within himself as You created him.

Your memory depends on his forgiveness. What he is, is unaffected by his thoughts. But what he looks upon is their direct result.

Therefore, my Father, I would turn to You. Only Your memory will set me free. And only my forgiveness teaches me to let Your memory return to me, and give it to the world in thankfulness. And of this I can be sure; His answer is the one I really want. You speak for God, and so You speak for me. And what You give me comes from God Himself. Your Voice, my Father, then is mine as well, and all I want is what You offer me in just the form You chose that it be mine. Let me remember all I do not know, and let my voice be still, remembering. Let me not forget myself is nothing, but my Self is all.

Many more of these videos can be accessed there, as well as a wealth of information about the subject of iambic pentameter. She felt that the poems were dictated to her by the Lord, although she had a hand in the content of the poems — that it was a collaborative venture and partnership with Jesus and herself. Here is an example of one of these poems, narrated by the Mighty Companion and posted within his YouTube Channel, with the lyrics shown below:.

And then in stillness wake. First there is silence; then awakening.

Now is the time appointed for the end Of dreaming. Still the cradle where you come To be reborn. His vision rests upon your eyes, and soon You will behold His face, and will forget The fantasies that seemed to be so real Until the stillness came. The Son of God Has come to join you now.

His shining hand Is on your shoulder. Helen Schucman. As mentioned on the Home page of our website, chainofmiracles. Every gain in our strength is offered for all, so they too can lay aside their weakness and add their strength to us. The true son of God shall come singing his songs. Many of our performers of today incorporate Bible scripture and teaching within the lyrics of their songs. An example we provided was a video of Michael W. Here we will also report on language as it exists in the spiritual world, especially among angels, as reported in the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg and those who have had near death experiences.

Contemporaries of Swedenborg appreciated his poems. He would use poetry when discouraged or as relief and rest from his concentrated hours of study. Poems from Swedenborg. As Levane demonstrated in his book, one can take many passages from the Writings of Swedenborg and convert them into poetic format. An example that I formatted is a favorite passage of mine from the book, The Essential Swedenborg :.

In such case he will trust only in the Lord, And will count other things of no concern. But whoso believes that he governs himself, Is in continual disquiet, Being betrayed into evil lusts and anxieties Concerning things to come, And thereby into manifold. Inasmuch as he so believes. The lusts of evil and the persuasions Of what is false adhere to him. Sig Synnestvedt. Although Swedenborg is not generally well-known for his own poetry, he influenced many of the greatest poets and writers in history.

For example:. It is a fact that the greatest poets and prose writers have borrowed liberally from him. Here are a few testimonies by several of the poets mentioned above:. Walt Whitman. The leading American poet of the nineteenth century, Whitman was profoundly influenced by the work of Emerson. Ralph Waldo Emerson — U. No one man is perhaps able to judge of the merits of his works on so many subjects.

By the science of experiment and use, he made his first steps: he observed and published the laws of nature; and, ascending by just degrees, from events to their summits and causes, he was fired with piety at the harmonies he felt, and abandoned himself to his joy and worship. This was his first service. If the glory was too bright for his eyes to bear, if he staggered under the trance of delight, the more excellent is the spectacle he saw, the realities of being which beam and blaze through him, and which no infirmities of the prophet are suffered to obscure; and he renders a second passive service to men, not less than the first,—perhaps, in the great circle of being, and in the retributions of spiritual nature, not less glorious or less beautiful to himself.

They are the foundation for grand things. It explains much that was incomprehensible. Yeats won the Nobel Prize for Literature in At the prize-giving ceremony in Stockholm he mentioned Swedenborg in his speech. An excellent resource for the life and works of Emanuel Swedenborg and a source that I use in sharing information about him is available as a free e-book for download as the Swedenborg Foundation Website, swedenborg.

Rose, Jonathan S. Pennsylvania: The Swedenborg Foundation, See Robert H. Kirvin and David B. I also testify that ever since the first day of this calling, I have accepted nothing regarding the teachings of this church from any angel; what I have received has come from the Lord alone while I was reading the Word. Compare AR The Lord uses poetry and music in revelation as it is characteristic of the harmony and cadence of the universal spiritual language people come into after death. In angelic discourse [speaking] there is a harmony like that of songs. There is also a kind of concord and harmonious cadence, like that of poetry.

Swedenborg experienced heavenly song during his visits to the spiritual realms, which he wrote about in the books of the Heavenly Doctrine and his Spiritual Experiences:. There appeared a stream of light powerfully affecting my eyes. I therefore looked up, and lo, the whole heaven above us appeared luminous, and from east to west in a long series was heard therefrom a glorification. The sound fills the entire city. Each morning the song embodies one particular feeling related to spiritual love. That is, the way the voices sound and the mode the song is in convey a given feeling so well that we experience the song as that feeling itself.

The song flows into our souls as we listen and stirs in us the feeling it corresponds to. This is the nature of songs in heaven. The singers tell us that as those listening become more receptive, the sound of the song becomes more inspired, inwardly alive, and beautiful. Angels can grasp the subject of the affection by the regularity and fluency of the modulation….

The singing continued, and [as soon as spirits] knew the subject of the affection it expressed, they began to hear it in many different ways, in each case depending on the state of their own love…. Note And they sang a new song. The Psalms of David, too, are nothing other than songs, for they had musical accompaniment and were sung. Consequently in many places they are called songs.

Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Psalm , Sing to Jehovah a new song…. Let Israel rejoice in its Maker…. Let them sing praises to Him…. Psalm Let them lift up their voice…. Isaiah , Sing, O heavens…! Shout, you lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, you mountains…. Sing aloud to God our strength; make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob. Raise a song….

Psalm , 2. Gladness and joy will be found in Zion , confession and the sound of singing. Isaiah , cf. Sing to the Lord…. Isaiah , 6. My heart is ready…, I will sing and make music. In the Room with Walter Bruggemann. Across the world, there are thousands of languages. Estimates of the number of languages in the world vary between 5, and 7, Some of the more well-known languages that occur to me is: English, Hispanic, French, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, and of course, Latin, to name a few. Children usually learn the language of the family in the area of the world in which they live.

However, as children grow up and decide what their professions are going to be, sometimes they learn more than their first language. For example, if they live in a foreign country and wish to travel to the United States or work in an environment that requires English, they may decide to learn the English language to avoid having to acquire translators. If they decide to become a translator they may learn many more languages. Also there is the unique language of a profession. Many people devote years to an education, learning the language and means of communicating within their chosen disciplines.

Then it may sometimes take months or even years of practice to become proficient.

What about communication with God, Who is Spirit? What is His language? Do you think it would be important to learn His language? The dictionary gives us this meaning:. The collection of sacred writings of the Christian religion, comprising the Old and New Testaments. Also called Hebrew Scriptures. The collection of sacred writings of the Jewish religion: known to Christians as the Old Testament.

An important characteristic of spiritual language taken from divine revelation is that it is harmonic and poetic. As our message develops to include the Heavenly Doctrine and A Course in Miracle s, it is amazing to discover how this idea also is dynamically reflected within these sacred texts.
