In all of my life, I have never seen such a boondoggle as this. California can't even afford the most basic services anymore and almost bankrupt and the politicians want to build this idiotic train through farm country who have no reason to even ride the stupid thing? I could understand a system from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, but this stupid idea starts from nowhere to nowhere. Hell, they're not even starting from a metropolitan area.
That is the major problem with politicians, they all want some sort of legacy, no matter the cost to productive citizens. Ego-maniacs, all. I hate politicians from city council and up.
They always think they know better. They can never leave well enough alone, because they are always looking at the next level of power and looking to build a name for themselves. That book will change a lot of minds about how deep and how long this insidious mess has been going on. And how much today reflects the bad old days of the Soviet takeover of Russia, and the Socialist takeover of the formerly great British crown.
